This is actually a post not of any tips, but for those who is here right now, reading my blog while preparing yourself for your cabin crew interview, especially the ones going for SIA Penang Interview this Fri and Sat…
I just want to wish all of you the best in luck. I really hope my post has been useful in helping your preparation for your interview… remember, all of you here are actually “chasing your dream”… and I totally respect that.
The time is now, and once you get through… trust me.. its the best feeling in the world !
For people who trusted me and had a copy of my cabin crew secrets manual, all the more you should be able to make it as you already know what the interviewers and the company is looking out for. All you need to do now is really to go out there and GRAB that job =P
Be it you make it this time round or not… know this for sure… don’t give up on your dreams. I have heard of stories that some crew actually made it after her 7th try… now that is persistence… afterall.. trying is free right ?
So before I sign this post off, just want to say something to all which hopefully will help give you some confidence and take some stress off your shoulders…
“The only time you fail… is the last time you try…”
Good Luck ^^
Hi,will the SIA will still conduct interview after march also?I’m not able to attend the coming interview.:( Thanks

Hi Kristine. Thanks for sharing so much. However, I do like to have some advices from you. I have went for twice interview over the timeframe from december 09 to january 2010. Both time i was booted out from the skin check. Despite having a clear skin, can i know what does the makeup artist looks out for? (p.s. I have a small scar below my collarbone that maybe cover with concealer. However, under the strong intense light I cant guarantee that. Could that be the reason? and is there any makeup that you could recommend me to cover light scar?) in any case, Kristine Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
By: evon on February 26, 2010
at 7:03 am
Hi Evon..
Skin may not be the only factor…. posture, weight, how you look in your kebaya can also be factor in.
Make up or no make up… it’s not the determining factor..because my batch mate went through the entire interview without makeup !… though I do recommend you putting some light ones on.
and yes, as of the scar, you need to cover it up with a concealer… and I personally use and recommend Covermark.
If you are in Singapore, it can be found in Takashimaya cosmetic department.
For Malaysians.. the only way is to get online… and the covermark link above is the closest I’ve found

For pilot yes.. they need to have good eyesight..
For cabin crews… no.. and if you can see clearly with your contact… then.. whats there to worry about ?
It did not state in their website that they need perfect eyesight people right ? =)

Hi Yemmi,
How tall are you ?
If you don’t meet the height requirement, I am sorry to say, there really isn’t anything you can do. You can still apply for other post though… but as a cabin crew, you need the required height for safety and emergency procedures… no 2 ways about it.. =(

I am sorry to disappoint you… but that’s not true.
Height is a requirement for safety reasons… and there is no compromise on that…

Hi cabincrewkristine
I am 22 by Aug 2010, working a 9-5 job. Being a cabin crew has always been my dream since teenager. I was selected to join AirAsia, but have to let it go as I was in a serious relationship with my husband then (yes, we are married now). I now have 1 child, but being young helps maintaining my figure, i guess. Do u think i still have a chance to join SIA? As i read someone wrote that after a baby is definitely a no no. Being a mum at such young age, made me realise that i should go after my dreams, as time passes too fast and u never know what comes next. Yr advice is much appreciated! Thx in advance love~
By: Ellie on April 21, 2010
at 3:04 am
errr…
i hope things are fine with your family now …
First thing first, err… who is that person who says having a baby is a no no ? Its definitely not true. But having a baby during your contract(2 years) is a no.
But then again dear, if you are already a mother, who is going to take care of your little one when you are flying ? especially at such young age ? I thought maybe, you should spend more time with your little baby and watch him/her grow.. its suppose to be one of the most beautiful things to do in life… and when you are always flying, sometimes, its hard to juggle between your time back then… and if you are a malaysian.. it makes things worse…
I hope you get what I mean…
By: cabincrewkristine on April 21, 2010
at 3:40 am
Thx 4 the feedback dear kristine
Well, my mum is helping me out with baby, as I am more at ease than leaving her at babysitters! I work in the city, and my mum live abt an hour away from me. I travel home evry 2 days to see my precious one. Of course I would die to be able to watch her every growing step. But unfortunately I am unable to do so as I need to sustain my job. Envied the life of a housewife =) – with husbands that can afford the wife not working! I was too foolish to fell for the true love trap (u noe how some can be very realistic/choosy on choosing a hubby nowadays! $$$$) – not to say i regretted it at all! it was all drawn out for me i guess =) i was thinking of the long day offs after each flight duty, will enable me to bond with my precious. Meanwhile achieving my dreams(to travel around and of course – the good salary). Correct me if I am wrong. Aren’t CC gets long day offs, and long work days (in a stretch)? Anyways, thanks for clearing my doubt, so I am still in the league eh? =) Trying means no harm, cos from what i read on all these posts, Phewww.. this is one hard interview.. Haha. The competition is too huge.
By: Ellie on April 21, 2010
at 4:42 am
Well Ellie, long off days… yes… lots of free time.. yes… but then again, does not mean you get to spend it with your little baby.
Lets take for example a short europe flight like london flight, you fly for 14 hrs + reporting 2 hrs + misc (prep etc) = 16 hrs time) (1 day), and you touch down say in the morning there in london. (2nd day) you are free on this day to travel and do what you want, (3rd day) then on this 3rd day, you also are free to do what you want, its yr rest and off day. (4th day) you fly back (14 hrs + 1 hr reporting + misc) = 15 hrs (1 day) and you got back to Singapore and excluding touchdown day, you get 2 days off before yr next duty. So… total off days = 4 ++ but then the off days to go back Malaysia is only 2.
Although there are other longer flights that gets you 3 days off… but then, its no guarantee that you will get them… typically is the one above. Don’t forget we have not factor in the mid haul like japan where you only get one day off (not inc touchdown day) when you get back singapore. Factoring in the travel to m’sia and rest time you need… It really is not easy.. and the time spent with your baby may not be as much as you think you may get. – especially from malaysia. Unless of course, you are from Singapore… then, it makes the situation slightly better.
I am not discouraging you or something… but I do hope you make a sound and wise decision. ^^
Hope this helps =)

Hi Kristine,
I am an Indian(F) 28yrs old from Malaysia, with STPM/A-Levels qualification with 3credits.Height 169cm Weight 56Kg, Brown skin with a bit dark spots on face but not too visible with light make up. Working experience in Customer Service and Admin/HR field for 8 years. Can speak English but not too fluently, would rank 8/10. Do you think my paper qualification and skin color will be the hindrance to meet the criteria as SIA CC? Thinking to give a try for the coming interview in Penang and you would b the right person to consult b4 make a decision:-)

HI,
I went SIA interview on last Saturday in KL, i go til 4th round they reject me said that i’m not enough tall….measurement fron them is 157cm oni lack 1cm, izzit possible that i try again? cz i measure at doctor clinic is 158cm. Can i try again?
By: Eunice on October 11, 2010
at 2:14 am
Hi dear… you sure can go try again – as in, go for the interview again.. but need to start all over.
From yr point of view.. it may seem like a small 1 min thing.. but imagine if 100 interviewees does the same… and at different slots… do you think they will have the time to entertain all of them ? certainly not… So… if you want, you will need to wait for the next interview….
By: cabincrewkristine on October 12, 2010

Hi,
If in the batch of participate who get reject from the final or during medical check out! SIA will review back all the application form to select again from there or not? Means they will call you and ask you back for continue the interview again!
By: eunice on October 12, 2010
at 6:27 am
hey dear…
during medical… is unlikely.. during management… its still possible.. ie, the quota still lacks 1 or 2… and your points are like border line.. so.. you might have a chance again.
However, that only happens once in a blue moon.. in most cases.. you will have to go through all the interview again..
By: cabincrewkristine on October 12, 2010
at 10:47 am
Hi,
so you means now quota still lack of 1-2ppl??? Cz i really feel so sad, bcoz of 1cm the reject me. Bcoz my fren told me they will keep our data as reference if they still lack of the quota they will contact you back to continue the interview……
By: eunice on October 13, 2010
at 1:11 am
hi dear…
I wun know about the quota…. but height wise.. nowadays.. are pretty strict..
By: cabincrewkristine on October 15, 2010
at 7:20 am
Height is not just a requirement set by the Aviation authorities, it is a criterion to “protect yourself” from getting hurt.
For a guy, I am not tall. When it comes to helping passengers to stow luggages, it can become a toll for the backbone. Even more for girls who just barely meet the minimal requirement of 1.58m.

I have only 3 o’s credit, absent for chinese and failed humanities.
I notice the next coming application date at 26 nov.
I met all the other requirement execpt for my studies wise. I am strong in my language tho.
What do you think i can or should do? 😦
By: alize on October 13, 2010
at 5:16 am
hi Alize..
if you really want.. you can only do so after you get yr diploma… or retake yr O’s till you have met the relevant credits
But then.. it depends on the time slot given.. all in all.. if really decide to study.. go for the diploma.. for it will seve you well in the near future.. be it you make it with SIA after yr dip…

Hi Kristine,
I passed the interview on 7th August and already went medical check a few days after that.Mary called me two weeks later saying that they’ll KIV me first cz my available date is in Dec and I still need to clear the 2nd medical check for working permit purpose as I’m a foreigner(msian). It’s too early to apply for working permit in August thus she said she’ll call me again in Oct.
I am worried cz she nvr said whether I really have cleared the 1st medical check(I had an extra backbone X-ray due to suspected scoliosis) and I havent recieved any calls from SIA since then. =( What does she mean by KIV?Does it mean I might be eliminated in anytime(due to medical reasons)? I tried to call them several times but I never get through.Pls clear my doubt.Thank you very much!

Hi! I’m actually about 156cm tall, but am interested in being a cabin crew! I heard that if I’m able to reach this yellow/red tape during the interview I’d still be able to pass even if I do not fulfill the requirement of 158cm. Is that true?

I want to be a SIA cabin crew, and i have a question about a eye vision.
My eye vision is consider bad, but i have no problem living my life without my glasses or contact. But i have to wear glasses to see far away stuff. I can’t wear contacts, so i was just wondering if i can use my glasses when i take the eye check up test and be qualified to be a SIA cabin crew?

erm.. dear… if you can’t wear contact… you can’t be a crew.. as no crews are allow glasses…

Is it possible if I wear glasses during interview but wear contact lens later?

Yes.. its possible.. but of course.. you want them to see you in yr “no spec” look to stand a higher chance..
